Gordon Hayward Brings Back Hope for a Return

Gordon Hayward is keeping hope for a return with the Boston Celtics alive

From the moment the Boston Celtics discovered the injury suffered by Gordon Hayward, they have made it clear that they do not expect him to return this season. Nevertheless, there is some sort of window in the recovery, and the amount of times Stevens or Ainge are asked the same question tells you that people are not giving up hope. Now Hayward has finally given the fans a real reason to be hopeful.

There are still so many different things that have to happen, and so much time before Hayward will get close to the court. That being said, he just came out and said “the hope is still there” that he might return. Hayward did not say anything close to definitive and made it clear that he cannot know at this point if there is any chance he could get back on the court.

That being said, this is the most positive thing that has been said by anyone about Hayward’s injury, and this is the exact thing fans needed to keep thinking about what this team could be like if Hayward actually got back on the court.

Celtics fans know that there is a serious chance they can be the team to come out of the East. Imagining how good this team could be with Hayward will definitely bring out the hope that the Celtics could actually give the Warriors and Rockets some serious competition as title contenders.

For now, you really cannot read anything into this. Hayward made it really clear that he has no real information, and it is natural for any player to keep any hope that he might return. The possibility might be there, but fans are setting themselves up for disappointment if they start think Hayward could be back in the playoffs.

What Hayward guaranteed is that this story is not going away. Fans will hold onto anything they can get and this is the most optimistic they can be since Hayward went down.
