Jayson Tatum has escaped any kind of damage from what looked like a dangerous finger injury

Jayson Tatum successfully terrified every single Boston Celtics fan last night. People saw the image of his finger pointing in the wrong direction, so everyone jumped to the same conclusion. Tatum did a great job of helping thing by coming back into the game, and his absence on the injury report on back to backs against the New York Knicks settles it.

The Celtics have been cautious all season long when it comes to injuries, and they would probably be more cautious with Tatum than any other player on the team. The Celtics  know how important it is to start winning games, but if there was even the slightest chance that Tatum would be in any additional risk, he would not have returned last night, and he certainly would not be appearing tonight.

It appears as though Celtics fans can act as though nothing ever happened, and there should be no lingering issues on that finger that caused so much distress in the moment.

More from Hardwood Houdini

The best news is that the Celtics really could not afford to see Tatum go down right now. He is still playing out of his mind, and is one of the few consistent presences on the team. The Celtics need him more than ever to step up, and he should be prepared to carry some scoring with the second unit that is struggling right now.

Marcus Morris and Shane Larkin are both out, and even Jaylen Brown appeared on the injury report. The Celtics are going to need their reliable players to step up, and that means Tatum needs to be at 100 percent, and even looking to do more than usual, to try and pull the Celtics out of this slump.

As long as the Celtics staff is confident in Tatum’s health, then the fans should all feel fine. Nobody wants to see their prized prospect go down like that, and he has truly been one of the greatest parts of watching this season for Celtics fans.

Tatum is becoming more and important to this team, and they have not been overcoming injuries the way they were to start the season. Right now, the injuries are just to the depth, so these reliable guys should be able to end this awful stretch with a win.
