Boston Celtics Lose More Depth Against Knicks
The Boston Celtics will be missing Marcus Morris and Shane Larkin, and are uncertain on Jaylen Brown’s status
The Boston Celtics hit a new season low last night, losing to the Miami Heat with their three best players sitting out the game. The Celtics were in an ideal position to put the worst stretch of the season behind them, and come into this game on a three game winning streak.
Kelly Olynyk came in and beat down the Celtics, and this is the worst performance they have to overcome this season. They are playing a team they know they should beat, but that has meant nothing this season.
Now the Celtics have announced that Shane Larkin will be joining Marcus Morris on the the sidelines, and there are question marks about Jaylen Brown. Jayson Tatum was not on the injury report, and that can put a terrible scare behind the team.
Nevertheless, the Celtics are not a team that can sacrifice any depth right now, even if it is their last used point guard in Larkin. Larkin is not used frequently, but he has played a crucial role in multiple games this season.

In fact, it is these exact kind of games where he has been the most valuable. The Celtics dealt with a lot of injuries this season, and have struggled at many points. Larking has been there on multiple occasions, to bring a spark when the team was at a low point.
The Celtics are certainly at a low point right now, and they will be without two second unit players that can bring that spark that has lead to many wins this season.
The bottom line is that the Celtics still should not need that added depth, and should even have no problem withstanding Brown’s absence. The Celtics were continually successful at the start of the season, despite injuries to their most significant players.
The team needs to find a way to play consistently, and make sure that their defense shows up every night. The New York Knicks are not a team the Celtics can take lightly, and they are going to need every player to do their part in getting the team back together.

Larkin and Morris would give the Celtics more options, but they still have more than enough options to get things back together and end this brutal stretch with a win.
