The Boston Celtic finally got a glimpse of how bad they could be against the Chicago Bulls

The Boston Celtics have been one of the wildest teams in the NBA this season. They have seen injuries to every significant player, and have continued to win through it. They went on the most impressive streak of the season, while never really playing that great.

The Celtics struggled in a lot of different ways. It took their offense a long time to get going, but the defense was there to make sure they were close enough, allowing them take over in the clutch. Once fully healthy, the Celtics started getting closer to what should be their ceiling, but considering the roster turnover and how young everyone is, this team can improve in a lot of ways. We are seeing some balance, but there is still something left to be desired, especially on offense.

The best part of the start of the season so far might have actually be their ability to always find a way to make up for the area they were struggling in. They did not have many games at their absolute best, but they continually found just enough to get that win. Normally defense made the difference, but they found sparks from almost every player on this roster at some point.

Against the Chicago Bulls, we finally saw everything fall apart for the Celtics. The were burdened with Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris sidelined, and not a single player in any phase of the game was able to find that extra boost.

More from Hardwood Houdini

The worst part might be that the Celtics really did not need to find a lot to beat the Bulls, but we finally saw a game where they could do no good, and it was a brutal experience. For the first time this season, the Celtics played down at their floor, because it will never get worse than getting blown out by the Bulls like that.

At full strength, we should never see the Celtics that bad again, and Brad Stevens has always been able to get his teams to bounce back after difficult loses. The Celtics have shown tremendous maturity and patience this season, and this is not the kind of thing that has been able to phase them.

The Celtics know how important it is to win, but the bigger picture is always the priority with this franchise, and this is an opportunity to experience something the team has not gone through this year. The Celtics have overcome tremendous obstacles in the first third of the season, and the more things they learn to overcome in the regular season will help them that much more in the playoffs.

This should just be the next thing the Celtics overcome, and we already have enough evidence to be confident that this is a massive outlier, and this is something the Celtics will now know they can never approach again.

Getting that number one seed can always come down to which team wins more of the easy games. The big matchups are a lot more fun, but there is more opportunity to gain ground by beating all the inferior teams. The Celtics have been great at winning the easy games this season, and this is the only time they have not put themselves in a position to win that kind of game.

The Celtics have to get prepared for a lot of back to backs over this next stretch, and they have given some players that extra rest. They need to make sure they take care of business and play to their capability during this stretch, and no one will be caring about the embarrassing loss to arguably the worst team in the league.
