Should Marcus Morris tone down the aggressiveness?

Marcus Morris has already proven to be a valuable asset to the Boston Celtics. He has provided that scoring boost, and has added interior toughness. he is fitting in quite well, and will be a part of the rotation for the rest of the season.

Morris also plays in a particular way. He is good at creating his own shot, and he can handle making contested ones. He can be a presence on defense, and has some pretty good timing when it comes to when he goes on his scoring stretches.

One thing that Morris has an abundance of is aggressiveness, and that is important. The Celtics always embrace aggression in all their players, and that is one of the reasons he has fit in so well. The problem, however, is that there are certain players the Celtics do not want him to be more aggressive than, and that is not the case now.

Morris has shown an ability to hit them, but his shot selection is not always perfect, and he can cause some disruptions and hurt some of the opportunities. Morris is all the way up to 39 percent from three, so the Celtics are not going to tell him to stop shooting. What he can work on, however, is the timing. They want him to pick his moments, and that way he can embrace his aggression without taking quality opportunities away from the more talented players on that starting unit.

It is not too dire an issue, and it is not as if Morris is taking an overwhelming amount of shots. That being said, he is third on the team in shot attempts per game, behind just Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown. Morris is a good scorer but he cannot finish the way Al Horford or Jayson Tatum can.

The Celtics do not want to disrupt too much with Morris, because he really has been playing well. That being said, he is taking opportunities away from superior players. Of course, that does not only fall on him. Both Tatum and Horford can be more aggressive, but that is not how they play.

The Celtics want Morris to shoot and they want him to be creating offense, but timing is going to be key. Morris needs to make sure he is not limiting the opportunities of any of his teammates, and then his aggressiveness will only be an asset to this team.
