Marcus Morris is heading to the G-League to get ready for the NBA

It has already been a long saga with Marcus Morris‘ return to the court. We knew that the start of the season would be tough after he missed all of training camp and preseason due to his trial.

The Celtics decided they were going to be patient with him, and soreness has already kept him out of the first two weeks of the season.

The Celtics have now announced that Morris will be continuing his rehab in the G-League with the Maine Red Claws (Via CelticsBlog). The Celtics want to make sure that Morris is healthy, and they want to make sure that he is game ready.

More from Hardwood Houdini

Morris will not be spending much time down there, because the Celtics are going to need his play on the court. That being said, the Celtics will not bring him back until he is ready to be a proper contributor.

The Celtics cannot afford to have Morris on the court if he is a liability, and a G League assignment is the best place for him to be properly evaluated before being put into a difficult position.

The Celtics desperately want Morris back, because they still need to see this roster at full strength before they can settle into a consistent rotation. That being said, the Celtics have been winning games trough this transition now, and that gives them an even bigger cushion to keep Morris out until he is ready in every way possible.

Morris has a chance to have a real role on this team, and the starting unit cannot even be fully ruled out. He will take even more time now to establish them chemistry, but time spent in the G league will ensure that he is ready to contribute the moment the Celtics decide to finally get him on the court.

Hopefully this stint will be short, because the less time Morris needs to prepare for his time on the active roster, the sooner he will be able to have his best possible impact.
