The Boston Celtics are looking great after a dominant victory against the San Antonio Spurs

The Boston Celtics did a great job bouncing back from their 0-2 start. They put together four straight wins, against some quality opponents. That being said, they struggled a lot in those games, and never looked that great in any of the victories.

There were parts of the game that the Celtics were great in. They proved that their defense was for real, and they would be able to close games.

Against the San Antonio Spurs, the Celtics showed us something different. Even without Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs are a quality opponent, and the Celtics handled them with ease. The Celtics found ways to score on a great defense, and made sure that no one on their side was too much of a threat on offense.

The best part is the Celtics still left a lot to be desired. Kyrie Irving was simply brilliant any time he touched the ball, Al Horford continued his two way dominance, and Terry Rozier single handedly put the game out of reach early in the fourth quarter.

More from Hardwood Houdini

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both had dynamic impacts, and continue to look more and more comfortable playing. Tatum is impacting the game in so many more ways than just scoring, and is an actual threat to lead the team in rebounding.

Brown is physically dominating players all the time now, and he is finding more ways that he can attack teams in any situation.

All of that came together against the Spurs, and it lead the Celtics to their best victory of the season. That being said, the Celtics shot more than 10 percent worse from three, and lost the turnover battle. There was still sloppiness and far too many missed open shots on offense.

It is amazing how quickly the Celtics are figuring things out after the disastrous start, and having the first five game winning streak in the NBA is something to get excited about.

The fact that the Celtics still have not been close to their best at any point this season, is why the Celtics still need to be taken seriously as a favorite in the East.

The Celtics are getting solid minutes from bigs like Daniel Theis and Semi Ojeleye, and they are making sure that even when the offense struggles on the second unit, the defense holds things together.

This team is not giving up big runs, and they are crushing teams on the inside. They are finding a lot of different ways that they can beat teams, and this is the first game we have seen so many things come together at once.

We will see if the Celtics can continue to play the way the did against the Spurs, and then we will see how many more ways they can improve.

The Celtics finally looked like a top team in the league with their victory over the Spurs, and should leave them as favorites to finish top in the East until further notice.
