Kyrie Irving sounds like a man ready to transform his impact with the Boston Celtics

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Boston Celtics is whether or not Kyrie Irving will grow as a player. He played in a spectacular fashion with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and mastered scoring in a way that maybe no one else would be able to do.

We already know how special a player Irving is, but he is not content. At just 25 years old, there is plenty of time to improve, and Irving knows that. He has spoken about wanting to learn from Brad Stevens, and expanding his game in order to be able to run a better more complete offense.

Now Irving is talking about how that process is undergone. The Celtics are in a win now season, but it feels as though nobody is rushed. Everyone understands the situation they are in with such a crazy roster turnover, and Irving is making sure that is not going to stop him from learning the right way.

Irving is incredibly mature for a player his age, and his recent comments showcase that (Via Mass Live).

"you have to be really strategic and really methodical in not skipping any steps, in order to understand what you want to accomplish and then how to get there. There’s a way that you can put a goal at the top but you can’t skip any steps that it’ll take out you in the mental grind and the physical grind of trying to get back to being at that championship level. We have guys that have some experience, they’ve seen it first-hand and being part of the culture that I was in Cleveland and bringing that here, that championship culture, that championship understanding"

Irving sounds like a person who is in this for the long haul. He is the only significant player on this team that has experienced winning a championship, and that alone makes him a vital part of the growing process of this team.

If Irving is ready to buy into doing things the right way, allowing the talent to grow and develop together, even if it means a tough transition period, then everyone else will follow.

Irving has already shown us the unbelievable ability he has on the court, and he and Stevens are going to put into the work to turn that talent into a better overall impact.

The way Irving is talking, however, he is not just growing on the court. He is young but on such a young team he can be a leader for them. Players will look up to him, and a lot has been said about how well liked Irving is by players in the NBA.

Irving is the one going on about patience, and you know that Ainge and Stevens will be doing the exact same thing. That right there should have a huge impact in allowing everyone to grow as a team.

It sounds as though Irving is ready to go through a transition period, and that means he is preparing to handle some of the failures and difficulties that will inevitably come from having such a new and young team.

I have said it before, but Irving growing is not only about improving what he does on the court. Irving growing is about making sure he is bringing out the most from his teammates as well. As long as he is trusting the process that Stevens needs to go through, then things should work out fine for everyone this season, even if it does not always go so smoothly to start out.
