Kyrie Irving could have a fascinating relationship with the media in Boston
Everyone knows about Kyrie Irving‘s now infamous appearance on ESPN’s First Take, and more media members are coming out to talk about it.
We all knew that the First Take regulars would criticize it, because it probably did not feel good having their questions thrown back in their face by a player who appeared to have no interest in entertaining anything they were interested in.
Irving made it clear that he did not respect the kind of interview that was being conducted on First Take, and that mentality could lead to some troubles in Boston.
If you look at what is happening with David Price with the Boston media, and there is a real possibility that media members will sour to this approach taken by Irving.

He clearly has no interest in appeasing to whatever the media members want. He is not going to engage the questions he does not want to, and he is going to give you all kinds of convoluted answers that will leave you more confused than before.
I for one am ready to embrace this. Irving has already shown why he is one of the most unique personalities in the NBA, and if it means dealing with some shade being thrown at media members then so be it.
That being said, not everyone will enjoy Irving’s approach to interviews.
In the end, it will always come down to his play. If Irving is meeting expectations and the Celtics are playing like championship contenders, then he can say and do whatever he wants on any media platform.
That being said, by setting this standard, Irving is opening up the door to a lot more criticism if he struggles. True or not, these kind of answers and this kind of disengagement with the media will bring up all kinds of attitude questions if Irving is struggling.
The good news is that Irving does not appear to be phased by the media. Boston is a special kind of market, and Irving looks as comfortable as anyone handling them, even if he is handling them in a very unique way.

This just adds another layer to what is going to be one of the most fascinating stories in the NBA this year. All I can say is lets enjoy as much of this as possible, because Irving is going to give us a whole lot of things to enjoy, the least important being his interview etiquette.
