Marcus Morris has his trial set to begin on Monday, leaving more uncertainty for the Boston Celtics roster

With everything that has been going on with the Boston Celtics this offseason, it is hard to keep track of the status of each player.

Right now, it is probably time to start paying more attention to Marcus Morris, as his upcoming trial could add another level to the chaos that is the Celtics roster this season.

Both Morris twins will be on trial for the accusations of aggravated assault. They have already plead not guilty and a 10 day trial in Phoenix will determine whether or not they will be able to play this season.

The Assosiated Press announced the trial will begin on Monday, meaning we should have a clear picture well before the actual season starts.

More from Hardwood Houdini

Morris is far from a cornerstone of this franchise, but a guilty verdict could cause a lot of problems. First of all, there is potential jail time on the line for both of them, and that obviously makes him a non factor for the Celtics this season.

Even if they manage to avoid jail time, any kind of guilty verdict is an automatic suspension of at least 10 games, and could end up being more.

Losing Morris for any period of time will not derail the course of the franchise, but he is a top candidate to be a starter this season, and they cannot afford to lose anymore of that front court depth.

Losing Morris means an already too young team will need to expect even more from young players that have not played at the highest level yet. Without Morris, there will certainly be a tougher transition period for everyone.

The Celtics are going to have a hard enough time trying to bring all these new players together, and if Morris is out and then back into the lineup, that will only set them further back.

For Morris, it could mean his entire role on the team. Brad Stevens always gives his players a chance to prove their worth, but if he finds something he really like while Morris is potentially missing time, then he may never get to claim the kind of role he is envisioning right now.

At this point, all we can do is wait, but we at least have some sort of timeline for when we will know the status of Morris for the season.
