Daniel Theis’ stock on the Boston Celtics keeps rising as he finds another victim in EuroBasket

The Boston Celtics have too many new faces to account for on this team. With only four returning players, it is almost impossible to know how the rotation is going to shape up, and the second unit front court could go in literally any direction.

Most of the talk has been about incoming rookies Geruschon Yabusele and Semi Ojeleye. Both of them have already developed a fan following, and both of them have seen they stock rise during this summer.

That being said, it is a different front court rookie that might be having the best summer, as Daniel Theis continues to get noticed in EuroBasket.

The Celtics are giving Theis a chance largely because of his defense. He is coming off a defensive player of the year award overseas, and the shooting potential he combines that with already made him an intriguing prospect.

More from Hardwood Houdini

Now, Theis is starting to bring the attention in another unexpected way. Theis may not have the kind of athletic tools that the top bigs in the NBA will, but he is showing off why he can do more than just block shots and shoot threes.

For the second time now, Theis has posterized a player in EuroBasket. On top of that, his two victims are current NBA players Boris Diaw and Ricky Rubio.

The biggest question for any player coming to the NBA form overseas as a rookie is how they will stack up against NBA competition. What is happening now is not quite the same thing, but Theis is keeping up with anyone that is playing, and he has made it abundantly clear that he is not scared of anybody.

Theis is looking to make a name for himself against anybody, and that fearlessness will make sure he fits in just fine with the Celtics. He has already shown that he has the high motor and now he is showing he has the aggressiveness.

Theis is looking more and more like a player that will contribute on a regular basis for the Celtics, and if you are buying any of this EuroBasket display then he could end up with a bigger role that either other rookie big.

It is looking a lot like Theis will have that impact on defense, and now he is showing everyone that three point shooting may not be his only offensive option. Theis is showing us that he is going to have that knack for finding different ways to impact the game, and that means he will fit in just fine with Brad Stevens.
