Boston Celtics Few Familiar Faces
The Boston Celtics will have to compete against the Cavaliers with very few familiar faces
It’s been a crazy offseason in the NBA this year, especially for a team like the Boston Celtics. In fact, according to the current roster of the Celtics, only four players from last year’s team remain on the roster.
That’s really crazy to think about. I mean, I’m not saying it’s necessarily a bad thing for Boston, but you have to admit that it’s very rare to see a team complete such a major overhaul like the Celtics did this offseason.
Nevertheless, the roster that Boston has ended up with is pretty impressive to say the least. But instead of inspecting all of the new additions to the Celtics family, I thought we’d look at the very few familiar faces that stook around in Boston.
For one, Al Horford is still in the beautiful green uniforms. Horford served as a key role player for Boston last year, posting 14.0 ppg, along with 6.8 rpg and 5.0 apg. With the additions of Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving, Horford should be able to serve a similar role for next season.

Marcus Smart will also be continuing to represent Boston in the TD Garden next year. Although Smart’s stats weren’t that impressive, posting 10.6 ppg and 4.6 apg, he meant a lot more to the team than being a reliable scorer.
Smart was and should continue to be a key igniter in the Celtics defense, as well as being a key representation of Celtics pride. When the team isn’t performing to 100% intensity, you can always count on Smart to get the team and the fans hyped.
Terry Rozier is set to remain a Celtic in 2018 as well. Rozier was always a great backup point guard for Isaiah Thomas, but even better now, he has the chance to continue to be a reliable bench player for Uncle Drew! His numbers aren’t much, but no teams should let their guards down against this man.
Finally, it’s Jaylen Brown gearing up for his sophomore season with Boston. One of the most hyped players on the team, Brown has a real chance to get a lot of playing time this upcoming season.
His numbers from last season are expected to increase impressively, and his presence combined with the young rookie Jayson Tatum are sure to provide Boston with one of the best benches in the league.
It’s weird for me to think that only four players remain from last season, but honestly, I really don’t care as long as we have a better chance at taking down the Cleveland Cavaliers in next year’s Playoffs.

While the rest of the roster will be molding their own destiny and their own roles in new uniforms, it’ll be essential for the returning players to continue to represent what it means to be part of one of the best sports franchises of all time.
