Could Rose To Cleveland Hurt Boston?
Do the Boston Celtics need to worry about the Cavaliers signing Derrick Rose?
the Boston Celtics had a very successful offseason thus far, and the franchise has set themselves up for the opportunity to compete with teams like Cleveland, Oklahoma City, Houston, and maybe even Golden State.
But just as Boston fans have begun to celebrate such an incredible offseason, Cleveland could potentially drop a major bombshell on the Eastern Conference.
There have been rumors circulating the NBA that free agent point guard, Derrick Rose, could possibly be wearing a Cleveland uniform by the end of the upcoming weekend.
I guarantee most Boston fans (and NBA fans in general, for that matter) are probably thinking that the deal would not have too much of an effect on the league, but I’ll be the first one to say it when I say that this deal could really hurt Boston’s chances of success next year.

Most people forget what Rose once was. Six years ago, the man was the MVP of the league and was considered to be one of the best players at the time. Fast forward six years again, and the man is still averaging exactly 18 ppg with 4.4 apg.
Think of the Cavaliers three best players: Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, and Lebron James. These players led Cleveland to a championship in 2016 and have been one of the best teams in the league over the past three years.
Now, imagine Rose subbing in for Irving off of the bench (clearly, Rose would be a sixth man for Cleveland). Think of all the damage he and the second unit could construct on weaker reserves (and we’ve already seen what the man can do to starting lineups).
Although Boston still has key role players and sixth men like Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, and now Aron Baynes, they won’t be much of a match against the former MVP.
I know that Rose isn’t the player he used to be (and the constant knee injuries haven’t helped either), but he still shows flashes of excellence when on the court and can be reliable in late game situations.
Boston and Cleveland are the two powerhouses of the east this next year. Since Boston has been making lots of moves over the past month, it’s about time Cleveland starts catching up, right?
I’ve said this before, but I don’t mean to frighten Celtics fans when I discuss hypothetical situations like this, but it could very well happen, so it’s best to be prepared rather than caught off guard.

No worries though Boston fans, we’ve made far better upgrades this offseason than Cleveland has (everyone points at Gordon Hayward), but Cleveland could very well complete this year’s “sleeper-signing” if Rose is added on to the roster. Let’s just hope that Rose chooses Milwaukee (or any other team) instead.
