More Picks, Better Player

Celtics fans, if you haven’t learned already you can’t get comfortable with a certain player in the draft. One second you may be in perfect position to land your desired player, but then the front office may decide they want something else. Don’t be surprised if this happens again.

According ESPN Insider Chad Ford the Phoenix Suns have been trying to maneuver their way up the draft. The two teams they are in trade talks with at the moment are the Lakers and of course, your Celtics.

The report is that the Suns are focused on selected either Lonzo Ball or Josh Jackson if they successfully move up. The question is, why would the Celtics want to move back?

Well, the first reason would be that if they intend on drafting Jayson Tatum over Jackson he will still be there are #4. So, they would move down a single spot, add assets and still select the player they want. Obviously, a win all around.

My theory is a tad different. I believe that if the Celtics were to do this trade they would want yet another first round selection from the Suns. Then, they would attempt to flip 7 of their future 10 first round picks in order to sign a HUGE superstar. The only player I can see that would fit the bill for this big of a price is Anthony Davis.

If the Celtics make a package of 6-7 first rounders, Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley, that should be more than enough to get the deal done.
