Isaiah Thomas could add on to his legacy with a great Game 7 performance on Monday night.
It’s safe to say that Isaiah Thomas has proved to be an elite player in these NBA playoffs. After the death of his sister Chyna, Thomas showed incredible resolve and character by playing terrific basketball when dealing with tragedy.
In these playoffs, Thomas is averaging 25 points per game, which is extremely impressive since he has faced immense defensive pressure throughout. Even though Thomas has shown about as much as he can to this point, he could add to that legend with a big performance in Game 7 against the Wizards.

In the first two games of the series against Washington, Thomas scored 86 points. After going for 53 points in Game 2, Scott Brooks and the Wizards made it a point to keep Thomas from beating them. Ever since that game, Thomas has only gotten over 20 points once. However, he has been able to lead the Celtics to a win in Game 5, and would have grabbed Game 6 if John Wall hit a lucky three at the end.
There has been a debate among Celtics fans and media personalities on whether Thomas should be a max-player for the Celtics. I think that this postseason has proved that he is absolutely that. His intangibles are unmatched, and he is one of the best scorers in the NBA if not the best. I think that whatever happens in Game 7 against the Wizards, Thomas is a max-player.
That doesn’t take away from how important this game is for his career. The Celtics are better than the Wizards, and if they get eliminated by them in the second round it can be seen as a disappointment. Everything for the Celtics starts with Thomas, and he needs to be ready.
We have seen that each game in this series has been decided by what Thomas does. Even though Wall has been superior statistically, it hasn’t mattered as much to the results as Thomas’ performance. If Thomas plays well and controls the flow of the game, Washington doesn’t have a chance.

Going into Game 7, Celtics fans have a right to be nervous. However, they should feel confident that with home court, and the best player in the series in Thomas, they will have a good chance at moving on to play Cleveland. Thomas is already beloved in the city of Boston, but he can reach new highs if he comes up with a big performance in the biggest game of his career.
