Why Signing Gordon Hayward is an Offseason Must for the Celtics
By Jake Schwab
Finding offensive help for Isaiah Thomas will be a crucial point of focus for the C’s front office
After several counts of trial and error, it has been proven that the Boston Celtics will need to find more players with an offensive edge to alleviate defensive pressure from Isaiah Thomas. With a good handful of the current Celtics being proficient in defense, it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world to find someone just as efficient on offense as Thomas.
Seeing that this year’s free agency will contain some of the NBA’s better players as well as several supporting players, the Celtics will look to make quite the splash.

For those that are unaware (even though most fans are at this point) the Celtics’ very own Brad Stevens used to coach former Butler student and current NBA star Gordon Hayward.
Now, what exactly does this mean for the Celtics? It means that Stevens’ and Hayward’s history together makes for a very enticing pitch to the star forward. Danny Ainge has already made it clear that he wants to form a reunion between the two, and we all know that Ainge knows how to deal.
If the Celtics can make a playoff run past the second round, it could very well be a Kevin Durant choosing Golden State type scenario where as Hayward sees the potential of this young Celtics team and is convinced that with his help, they can go all the way.
Some other interesting food for thought is the fact that Paul George made it clear that he would love to play alongside none other than Gordon Hayward.
With the Celtics owning the rights to potentially the first pick in the NBA draft, who’s to say that they may not just deal away the pick and a couple players in order to further lure Hayward to Beantown.
