Best Actor in a Leading Role: Isaiah Thomas

The real best Actor in a Leading Role was Leonardo DiCaprio for his role in The Revenant.

For the Boston Celtics, this award goes to Isaiah Thomas.

More from Hardwood Houdini

For all the talk about the Celtics needing a true star, Isaiah Thomas has filled that role nicely for the third best team in the Eastern Conference. Thomas made his first all-star appearance this season as he is having a career year.

Thomas has set career-highs in points (21.5), assists (6.7) and rebounds (2.9) per game, as well as averaging 1.2 steals in 32.4 minutes per game this season. Thomas also ranks eighth in the league in total assists (403) and tenth in total points (1289) this season thus far. Although, most importantly, Thomas has played in all 60 games for the Celtics this season, starting 57 of them.

He has done an exceptional job taking over the leader role for Boston this season and being able to take over late in games. Thomas has also shown the ability, despite only being 5’9″, to get to the basket a lot. 31.3 percent of his shots are from inside three feet, converting 58.3 percent of them.

Without Thomas, this team would be nowhere near the level and record they’re at right now. Danny Ainge, once again, showed his magic last trade deadline by trading for Isaiah Thomas.

The small point guard has developed his playmaking ability under head coach Brad Stevens, and is one of the best all-around point guards in the league now. He went from the last pick in the draft to one of the best players in the league. Thomas is also the most consistent starter on the team, and will have a long career with Boston.
