The Boston Celtics are facing off against the Chicago Bulls tonight and were supposed to have a quick turnaround and play the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. Unfortunately, mother nature had other things in mind and the game has been pushed until Sunday.

The move should be inconsequential considering the opponent is the 76ers but while most teams would be happy to not have to play on back to back nights, thats an area where the Celtics have been successful.

The ratings, however, will be absolutely obliterated. While the Celtics could have been the main Boston sports attraction on Saturday, they will be going up against the New England Patriots who will be playing for a spot in the Super Bowl on Sunday. Fortunately, the NBA is taking the weather conditions more seriously than the TV ratings and the Celtics aren’t the only game being postponed.

The are calling for one of those storms of the century to hit this weekend and there is no doubting that any team will be delighted to hear that they do not have to travel during the chaos.

The Celtics will be avoiding having to play back to backs tonight and tomorrow but the delay only causes another back to back. The Celtics will be facing off against the Wizards on monday night but this set up should work in their favor. After playing a tough Bulls team tonight the Celtics may be a bit more worn down if they had to play the very next night. Now, the Celtics get to have the 76ers at the front of their back to backs and that should ensure that they are better physically for the second of back to backs.

Depending on how the game against the Bulls go, the Celtics may be playing the 76ers to stay above .500. The Celtics have been the most games above .500 in the Brad Stevens era this season but back to back loses has put them back on the fringe. The Celtics have had some lows this season but that would top the list.

The Celtics would have to lose tonight and then to the 76ers in order to fall under .500 and that will also put them on yet another four game losing streak. It’s hard to imagine having a worse stretch than losing to the Nets and the Lakers in back to back games but a loss to the 76ers to fall under .500 may top it.

The flip side if the Celtics not have a solid opportunity to get back on track. Despite their struggles, the Celtics are actually favoured against the Bulls. If the Celtics can come away with a victory tonight then they will be playing the 76ers to get three games above .500 and stay in the playoff picture.
