With all the trade rumors swirling. Would you rather the Celtics start the season with Rajon Rondo or Chris Paul at the point?

Just as fast as the Rajon Rondo/Chris Paul trade rumors began to surface, they were shot down. News broke today that people close to the situation are saying that Chris Paul, if traded, will not sign a long-term contract with the Boston Celtics. A reason why was not given, but age of the core members and location of the franchise could have been factors in his decision. A rather alarming rumor is beginning to circulate the interwebs dealing with the Celtics and their willingness to deal starting point guard Rajon Rondo, for the right deal. ESPN NBA Insider Chris Broussard wrote the following in his blog today: “While Boston is not shopping Rajon Rondo, it would be open to trading him in the right deal, sources say. In yet another bit of Big Baby awesomeness, we learn just how Big Baby stayed productive during the long, cold nuclear winter. This video is reason number 1,349 as to why Glen Davis needs to be back with the Boston Celtics. In four seasons with the Celtics, Davis averaged 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Now that the lockout is over and nuclear winter has been avoided, the Celtics have some serious shopping to do if they plan on being contenders in the shortened 2011-2012 campaign. Bench depth has plagued the C’s over the past couple of years and the expectations are heightened coming into this season. Injuries have and will continue to be an issue this season for the Celtics. Now that the NBA is coming back, teams have a relatively short amount of time to fill out their rosters. With training camp set to start in 2 weeks, the spending spree will be fast and furious. Kendrick Perkins, who was in town this weekend for Rondo’s Boston Charity Classic, took a moment to chat with reporters following the event. Said Perkins: “I never knew how much I missed being here. Definitely missed the whole city of Boston, the whole area of New England. It just felt good to be back playing basketball in Boston. Rajon Rondo rallied a host of NBA players to play an exhibition game just down Storrow drive, a few miles for the Garden.
