What to make of Giannis's latest message as rumors swirl about him joining Celtics

The NBA Finals aren't even over, and we have reached the peak of speculation season.

On the heels of the greatest comeback/collapse in NBA Finals history, a league that has little patience has already reached the peak of speculation season. In fact, Bill Simmons said on his eponymously named podcast that it might not even take until the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks finish fighting for the Larry O'Brien Trophy for a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to transpire.

And before Game 4 tipped off at Madison Square Garden, Tyler Herro and his brother fed into the commonly held belief that the Miami Heat are the favorites to land the two-time NBA MVP. The former All-Star unfollowed the Heat on Instagram. Adding to the internet gossip, Herro's brother responded to the 2021-22 Sixth Man of the Year's latest Instagram post with a picture of a Buck.

While that and Bam Adebayo and Kel'el Ware unfollowing each other -- the latter figures to be a part of the Heat's trade package for Antetokounmpo -- are supporting cast members in this soap opera, the main character is now fanning the flames.

Giannis ignites speculation about his landing spot

The 10-time All-Star recently attended the Monaco Grand Prix, a prestigious Formula One race. Thursday, he took to Instagram to post a series of pictures from his time at the event. His song selection to pair with those uploads was "Somebody Loves Me," which begins with the lyric, "We in Miami turnin' up another notch."

Antetokounmpo's post no longer includes any music. What that should make clear is that as people try to read the tea leaves on these "developments," any interpretation is purely speculatory. Players have unfollowed their team, only to remain with that franchise. And maybe the nine-time All-NBA selection was merely amusing himself with his choice in music, knowing he would later remove that soundtrack from his post.

It's also entirely possible that this is, in fact, a signal that the deal is done or nearing completion. While some may desire to determine a conclusion now, the reality is that time will reveal the truth.

And with Bill Simmons voicing on his latest podcast episode that he believes the Boston Celtics are now pursuing Antetokounmpo, the former Finals MVP might not end up in Miami.

Simmons also cautioned that Boston might just be trying to drive up the price that the Heat must pay to pull off this potential summer blockbuster. Again, we're in the peak of speculation season.

However, it's plausible that the Celtics have always been actively involved in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, but are working diligently to keep that from surfacing to avoid poisoning their relationship with Jaylen Brown. The worst-case scenario for Boston is that it happens while failing to acquire its star target.

The Marietta, Georgia, native is in China right now, where he just posted this message on X:

Maybe it has nothing to do with the trade rumors that are again surrounding him. Even if that's the case, it won't stop people from applying this to the current situation.

If the five-time All-Star is on the table, then the return for him from a third party should top what the Heat can offer the Milwaukee Bucks. The first night of the NBA draft is now 12 days away. Bucks' co-owner, Jimmy Haslam, has declared that a resolution for this matter is coming beforehand.

So, whether it's before we crown a new champion or someone has already lifted the Larry O'Brien Trophy, there will soon be a shift from trying to make a meal out of bread crumbs to the tea being spilled, Antetokounmpo having a new home, and internet gossip turning its attention elsewhere.
