What did Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown say to each other at halfcourt after Game 3?
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are just four quarters away from hoisting their first-ever NBA championship trophy together, as they walked out of the American Airlines Center by a score of 106-99.
These guys have been through it all, whether that's falling to the Warriors back in 2022 of the NBA Finals or maneuvering their way through all of the madness the media -- or, during the Finals, opposing coaches -- puts tries to put between them.
Following their win against the Mavericks, the two stars embraced at center court, sharing a once-in-a-lifetime moment before potentially the "real finale" of winning it all. After exiting center stage, both "Jays" went into detail about their hug.
“Showing the emotions of the game,” Tatum explained (h/t USA Today). “Two guys that was excited (and) tired after the game. We're not necessarily saying like 'one more' or anything like that. We are just saying, 'however long it takes.' Nobody is relaxed. Nobody is satisfied."
Just like how the late great Kobe "Bean" Bryant said it, "Job's not finished."
That's exactly the kind of mindset the two need for greatness, success, they are right there.
On top of that comment, Tatum shared that he told Brown, "we can't relax."
“Just at that moment, told him I was proud of him and he said the same thing," Tatum prefaced before saying, "We've got to keep fighting. We can't relax. And that was basically the conversation.”
Tatum and Brown scored 31 and 30 points, respectively, combining for 61 points — 58% of the team's final output.
What did Jaylen Brown have to say about the iconic memory?
In addition, Brown shared his perspective on the brotherly love. He states that "the job is not done."
"I'm just trying to stay in the moment,” Brown prefaced before saying, “It feels great to be up 3-0 in the series but the job is not done."
He's right, it's nowhere close to being over. Crazy things have happened and fortunately for Dallas they have someone who knows a thing or two about comebacks ... Kyrie Iriving. His Cleveland Cavaliers came back down 3-1 to upset the Warriors in 2016, though this would be an even more historic comeback by every stretch.
Nonetheless, Tatum and Brown are on the edge of falling into NBA glory.
If they can officially get the job done, those guys will be able to bring it in for another hug once more.
