The 5 best Boston Celtics Summer League players ever
No. 2: Tony Allen
One of the best on-ball defenders in Boston Celtics history was all over the place for two summers before playing a key role on the 2008 championship team.
He played 11 games across 2004 and 2005, averaging 14.8 and then 16.8 points per game in the first two years of the Las Vegas summer league.
He’s responsible for two of the top summer league performances of all time, scoring 26 points vs. Orlando in 2004 and then 29 points and 3 steals against the Pistons in 2005.
Allen went on to play six seasons as the Celtics most tenacious perimeter defender. In his career, he’s been a six-time member of the NBA’s all defensive team.
He retired in 2018 after one season with the New Orleans Pelicans.
