Painfully unrealistic trade proposal sends Giannis Antetokounmpo to Boston Celtics
While Fadeaway World's Eddie Bitar made a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade proposal for all 30 teams, he probably shouldn't have to make one for the Boston Celtics considering that such a deal wouldn't happen under any circumstance.
But even while partaking the exercise, including Jaylen Brown and Al Horford in it -- removing two of the team's most prolific leaders and two of the longest-tenured players on the Cs -- missed the mark. Badly.
What makes it all worse is Bitar's assertion that adding Antetokounmpo would facilitate Boston "emerging" as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.
"...the Celtics have more than this duo (of Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum); they have a roster including Kristaps Porzingis, a skilled big man who adds another dimension to their frontcourt, and Jrue Holiday, a defensive stalwart and playmaker extraordinaire," Bitar prefaced before saying, "With this powerhouse lineup, the Celtics would undoubtedly emerge as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference, boasting a lethal combination of offensive firepower and defensive tenacity."
Did the Celtics' historic 2023-24 regular season, complete with the No. 1 seed in the east, the No. 1 record in the league by seven games, and the third-best net rating in league history, not prove that they're the team to beat in the east?
A healthy Bucks team may be biggest threat to Boston Celtics
The Milwaukee Bucks may have been bailed out by Giannis and Damian Lillard's injury. Doc Rivers' job may have been saved by their injuries considering how much worse the team looked after he took over from the fired Adrian Griffin.
Even with their injuries and coaching woes, Giannis's individual talent makes the Bucks the biggest threat to Boston in the east. The New York Knicks may have missed their window due to their own injury bug and the Miami Heat's title window could be closed if Jimmy Butler doesn't get a max extension and requests a trade in the offseason.
