Jrue Holiday trolls Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser after Boston Celtics' Game 1 win
The Boston Celtics claimed Game 1 over the Mavericks by a score of 107-89 in a performance that saw them falter a huge lead during the third quarter. However, great defense and timely scoring built that lead back up, ultimately helping them run out of the TD Garden proudly.
Elite defensive guard, Jrue Holiday, made some very humorous comments about his teammates while speaking to the media afterward.
“It helps a lot throwing different guys at (Doncic), different guys that play defense differently,” Celtics guard Jrue Holiday said postgame, per Bobby Manning of CLNS (h/t NESN). “Some aggressive. Some not, but I think even our white guys guard, so hopefully it’s a challenge on them and hopefully we can continue to do that.”
Holiday is right that throwing different guys at Luka Doncic will shake things up. This prevents him and other guys, such as Kyrie Irving from getting a feel for how they'll be guarded — it keeps them on their toes.
The former Milwaukee Buck did not make this comment in a negative way but was only trying to point out the fact that other guys on the roster can play defense, too. He just expressed it in his own way.
Defensive performances by Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser crucial off the bench for Boston Celtics
For two guys to come off the bench and produce the way they did is the kind of thing that will raise Banner No. 18 in the TD Garden — no question about it.
It's great for Joe Mazzulla to see his role players excel on the defensive end because that kind of drop-off is more often than not prevalent in the NBA game.
If you're alarmed by this kind of comment from Holiday, don't forget that he made a similar remark not too long ago, earlier this postseason.
Besides, this just proves the kind of chemistry the team has which is great for wanting to win an NBA Championship.
