Boston Celtics fans have had lofty expectations for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown since they entered the league. Tatum, rightfully so, has been given plenty of praise for his rise to stardom. With that, it’s time for Brown to receive the praise he deserves.

After signing an NBA-record $304 million contract, Brown has exceeded expectations this season; taking his game to new heights and becoming the player fans wanted him to be.

The 27-year-old has done what he set out to do this season, which is to be a strong supporting cast member, improve defensively, and be better with his left hand. I give Brown a ton of credit for handling the criticism he received about his left-hand last year in the playoffs.

Jaylen Brown has improved defense on Boston Celtics this season

Furthermore, Brown has delivered on his goal of improving his defense and potentially making an All-Defensive team. It would be highway robbery at this point if Brown fails to make an All-Defensive team.

What separates average players from the great ones is not being afraid to set lofty goals and go out and prove it. The improved mentality from Brown has been seen post-All-Star break as he has taken his game to new heights. Brown has had multiple 30-point games, and he is playing with an awesome swagger/confidence.

I love the alpha mentality that Brown has grown into this season, and it bodes well for the Celtic's chances this postseason. I think Brown is more of an alpha than Tatum, which isn't ideal considering Tatum is the better player. However, the fact that Brown has this mentality and is unafraid to show it is a great development for the Celtics.

If Brown can bring that mentality to the postseason and even have some of it rub off on Tatum, the Celtics will be golden.
