These 3 Celtics rivals got significantly worse this offseason
3. Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors finished the season at 46-36 as the 10th seed and ultimately lost in the Play In Tournament to the Sacramento Kings.
They lost franchise centerpiece in Klay Thompson, and the Chris Paul-Jordan Poole swap proved to be a total failure. The Warriors have also been numerous rumors involving Lauri Markannen, but the front office is overvaluing guys like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski.
The additions of Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson, and De'Anthony Melton are solid for a contender, but the sum of this squad's parts doesn't equal a title team. The Warriors are heading for a rebuild when this season goes south.
I expect Draymond Green to be heavily shopped by the trade deadline and Stephen Curry to demand a trade elsewhere to finish his career. He has made it evident that he wants to win. A dynasty that was once a piercing thorn in the Boston Celtics' side has all but completely fallen. Give it time, and this team will be hardly recognizable at the season's end.
The Celtics do have some great competition next season as they look to repeat as champions. Unfortunately, these three teams are not among their greatest rivals anymore.
In the East, it appears that the Sixers and Knicks are poised to contend. In the West, teams like the Thunder, Wolves, Nuggets, Mavs, Kings, and Pelicans round out a tough field.
