2. Xavier Tillman - Three-pointers

The best attribute Xavier Tillman brings to the table is his switchable defense. He can guard bigs down low and keep up with guards on the perimeter. But if Tillman can hit his three-pointers, he’ll ascend to the next level.

Tillman played big-time minutes for the Celtics in the postseason, pitching in while Porzingis was out in the NBA Finals. He hit a huge three in Game 3 to help Boston secure a win.

Now, heading into his first full season with the Celtics, Tillman is staring down a huge chance to earn consistent minutes. Nailing his triples will go a long way in establishing his place in the rotation.

3. Luke Kornet - Consistency

For Luke Kornet, this could be the year he begins to fall out of Boston’s rotation a bit. With Tillman on the roster for the whole year and Neemias Queta making strides, Kornet could get surpassed at some point in the year.

However, early on, Joe Mazzulla may decide to rely on the guy he knows the best, and that’s Kornet. The 29-year-old center is a solid rim protector and very effective in the pick-and-roll.

And that’s all Kornet needs to do. If he can play solid defense, set hard screens, and roll to the rim well, then he’ll be a huge help during Porzingis’ absence.
