ClutchPoints' Daniel Donabedian believes the best option for the Boston Celtics with their $6.2 million Grant Williams TPE is Toronto Raptors forward Otto Porter Jr. -- the same low-usage role player who had several standout performances in the Golden State Warriors' 2022 Finals victory over the Cs.

"A lot of teams seem to be testing the trade waters before the deadline, but the Toronto Raptors already dove in," Donabedian wrote, who'd precede to cite a then-pending Pascal Siakam trade that has since become official.

"...it's not hard to imagine them dealing 30-year-old forward Otto Porter Jr. The former Georgetown standout has only played 15 games this season and averages just 11.6 minutes per outing. However, he's still a solid shooter who can contribute off the bench. The Celtics know that better than anyone, as Porter Jr. had some crucial minutes against Boston in the 2022 NBA Finals for the Golden State Warriors. That season, he proved that he could help a championship-caliber team while playing limited minutes, which is exactly the role he could fill for the Celtics. "

Otto Porter Jr. represents highest ceiling for non-game-changer Boston Celtics looking for

Porter is the kind of player Boston has had on its roster before. Remember, former No. 2 overall pick Jabari Parker was a reserve under Brad Stevens in 2020-21 and Ime Udoka in 2021-22, so bringing on the former No. 3 overall pick, Porter, is far from unfathomable.

Porter is a cost-controlled addition at this point who will fetch little on the trade market considering everyone knows the Raptors are rebuilding. Pursuing him is a no-brainer, and luckily it's more than possible since the Cs are specifically looking for non-game-changers.

And Porter is complementary only at this stage of his career. Box checked.

If the Celtics could convince Toronto to take on the expiring contracts of little-used players like Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk or Lamar Stevens, who Porter would conceivably be replacing, perhaps the team could tee up another move in the trade market. Of course, both options exist regardless of how they'd plan on acquiring Porter.
