The summer of Jaylen Brown just keeps on rolling. After taking home two MVP trophies in the playoffs, winning an NBA Championship, and launching an initiative to generate $5 billion for communities of color in Boston, the Boston Celtics star is entering the rap game.
OnThinIce recently teased Brown’s new song with Ferg on Twitter. It was revealed that the full tune is set to release on August 23, but the music video came out the night of the 22nd.

From the time he was drafted, there were people waiting for Brown to fail. One of the biggest (and weirdest) criticisms directed at him coming out of college was that he was too smart to play basketball.
Since then, Brown has spoken at Harvard, modeled Louis Vuitton, and helped the Celtics win Banner 18. Getting on a track with Ferg is merely the latest in a long line of accomplishments that prove exactly what Brown stated: He’s far more than a basketball player.
Brown’s name was tossed into drama earlier this summer when he didn’t make the Team USA roster despite Kawhi Leonard getting cut from the team mid-camp. Derrick White earned the spot, and Brown fired off some tweets about the situation.
While Brown and White are on good terms, the same can’t be said about the Celtics star and Team USA basketball. It’s unclear what their relationship is like now and what it will be like moving forward.
Regardless, it’s clear Brown has made use of his ample free time since he didn’t have to travel to Paris for the Olympics. Instead, he used the time to record a song that will undoubtedly make waves throughout the basketball world.
Ferg is the lead member of the rap group ASAP Mob and has been putting out music since the early 2010s. He has released five albums, the most recent being Floor Seats II, in 2020.
He has been featured on a few singles this year, and his new track with Brown will be the latest.
