9. Lamar Stevens

Stevens joined the Celtics in the 2023 offseason after being waived by the Spurs. Boston was searching for wing options behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but the 27-year-old struggled to find playing time. He appeared in just 19 games and played a total of 122 total minutes before being traded to the Grizzlies in February.

Memphis had a historically bad season in terms of injuries, which left minutes for Stevens. The 6’6 wing averaged 11.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 23.0 minutes per game. It was over just 19 contests but shows what Stevens is capable of.

The 27-year-old has a career negative-0.8 value over replacement player (VORP) and produced 0.0 last season, which was the best mark of his career. He is a subpar shooter with questionable defense. Stevens should be in his prime but must make shots to play more minutes.

Jayson Tatum and the Celtics loved having Lamar Stevens on their roster. That should bode well for him to get an opportunity in the coming season. He just needs the right chance.

Stevens must improve on both ends if he wants to earn more playing time wherever he lands. Expect him to put in work this offseason and keep an eye out to see his next destination.
