Andre Drummond could be a Boston Celtics frontcourt trade target in the event the Chicago Bulls enter a rebuilding phase, according to Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, who added the caveat that such a pursuit would only take place in the event that the front office has little interest in paying much to get any help.

"If the Celtics don't want to pay much for interior depth, (Drummond) could be their guy," Buckley wrote. "His perimeter limitations at both ends hurt his value in the modern game, but he's still an active rebounder who can finish around the basket and protect the paint.

"He could be the kind of player Boston acquires to keep behind emergency glass. If this team faces a low-post bruiser in the playoffs—several could wind up on this club's road to a title—it might get more mileage out of Drummond than Kornet in that matchup. That insurance alone would justify Drummond's trade cost, which would be minimal."

Boston Celtics could pursue a Precious Achiuwa trade if Raptors don't plan on re-signing him

Buckley also listed a higher-end Celtics frontcourt target, Precious Achiuwa, but added a caveat to a potential pursuit of the Toronto Raptors combo big: Masai Ujiri and Co. would have to not want to retain him for next season and beyond.

"While he isn't an obvious trade candidate even if the Raptors rebuild, he is playing on an expiring contract," Buckley wrote. "So, if Toronto doesn't plan on re-signing him next offseason, then trading him for a future-focused asset feels like the move to make."

In terms of tradeable future-focused assets, Brad Stevens has 2023 second-round draft pick Jordan Walsh and 2022 second-rounder JD Davison. Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser are 25, and the other young players on the C's books lack the kind of trade value necessary to land a player like Achiuwa. Other than that, the Celtics have a Grant Williams TPE at their disposal that they can pair with draft picks.
