3 Former Celtics we want to see in green again: Part 6

One is a stretch five who kills the Celtics every time they play, another is a wing who never got a real shot in Boston, and lastly is a raw backup center who is a tenacious rebounder.

Jay Scrubb

His name does not indicate how much he impacted the Boston Celtics fans and front office in the 2023 Las Vegas Summer League. Jay Scrubb inked a two-way contract following a great showing in Vegas averaging 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists on 46% shooting from the field, and 40% from beyond the arc across five games.

The two-way guard would tear his ACL in practice before the season began; never getting a chance to don the green during the run to Banner 18.

The timeline suggests the young 23-year-old guard should be cleared to play ahead of next season. In the summer league, Scrubb was a pure bucket-getter getter and this skill is appreciated on any NBA roster. The six-foot-four shooting guard scored at all three levels and did so efficiently. Fans were excited about him joining the Boston Celtics and the organization was impressed.
