Luke Kornet
There are so many big men on the Boston Celtics roster which makes it a luxury to have so many available bodies given KP's injury and Big Al's age. Al Horford will still take the lion-share of the available minutes. In the past, Luke Kornet was the de facto next big up in the rotation. Now, Xavier Tillman appears to be back on a multi-year deal and looks like a younger version of Al. Then, you throw in Neemias Queta who was also brought back on a multi-year deal and is killing it in the summer league.
Why couldn't Luke Kornet secure a second year on his deal?
He may be the odd big man out when Kristaps Porzingis returns. The king of the dab celebration and Carlton's dance moves may have the least potential of the three. At 29 years old, he is the oldest of three and all the good vibes in the world may not be enough for him to stand out this time around. Tillman is a better two-way player, and Queta has the most potential.
Maybe if Joe Mazzulla leans into letting him launch threes at any volume, then he could have more staying power. There are video clips surfacing of Luke Kornet hitting seven threes in an NBA game with the Knicks.
