Oklahoma City Thunder: Keyontae Johnson
The 2023 second-round draft pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder had his free agent rights renounced today making him an unrestricted free agent. Keyontae Johnson is a 24-year-old guard out of Kansas State. He averaged 17.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 52% shooting, 41% from three, and 71% from the stripe in his senior year.
The draftroom.com gives this analysis on the guard: " He’s a tough and physical wing who has the frame of an NFL linebacker."
"He’s an energy guy who plays with passion and heart," they added. "He’s a very good defender and rebounder and the type of guy everyone loves to have on the team. He doesn’t need the ball in his hands a lot and doesn’t stop playing hard if he’s not scoring. Has become a very good 3pt shooter when he has time."
Johnson tore it up with Oklahoma City Blue last season averaging 19.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 52% shooting overall, 39% on threes, and 78% from the line. The Cs should take a gamble on a high-potential player who the Thunder gave up on too soon.
