The Jaylen Brown media tour as a new member of the 76ers rolls on as he made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night and was asked about the Celtics. Specifically, guest host Anthony Anderson asked Brown if Boston was intelligent when they decided to trade him.
Anderson made it clear that he wasn’t disrespecting Paul George, but that the trade return was highly questionable, as the two seemed to laugh about the deal and how it went down, with Anderson saying the trade “wasn’t fair at all”.
Brown reiterated a trope he’s been preaching since the deal went down, and even before, that he was disappointed with how everything went down in his final days as a member of the Celtics, and as for the specific question of whether it was an intelligent move by the Celtics, he simply stated:
“I guess we’ll find out.”

JB is doing his best not to put out any bulletin board material or to disrespect the Celtics on his way out the door. And honestly, it’s commendable how much he has taken the high road after being essentially blindsided by the team he had gone to war for over the course of his entire 10-year career.
Jaylen Brown has chosen to take the high road
I’m sure he has a lot of feelings towards his now-former team and organization that he may get off his chest someday, but at least so far, he has taken everything in stride and chosen to stay mostly positive. Sure, he has made it clear that he didn’t like how things went down and that he felt some kind of disrespect, but realistically, it would almost be weird if he didn’t.
He has called Boston home for a decade and given his all to the city and the franchise, including playing a major role in raising a championship banner in 2024. Obviously, he’s going to keep getting asked about the situation, but he has been extremely respectful, and this is just the latest example.
Clearly, he’s not going to go out and directly slander George, Brad Stevens, or any of his former teammates and coaches. If anything, he has just expressed a desire to win and to prove himself in Philly. Surely, he does not think this was an intelligent trade by the Celtics, but he gains nothing by saying as much directly.
His “I guess we’ll find out” answer with a smirk on his face was really the perfect response. It sends enough of a message without crossing any lines, and continues to set up what should be an excellent rivalry between the 76ers and Celtics for years to come.
