It appears as though LeBron James may take some more time to make his decision. Recent intel would suggest the Boston Celtics won't be his next team. It's not like they were counting on it, but what they should be counting on is the fact that no matter what, James is coming back east.
ESPN's Shams Charania's latest update isn't saying much new, but he is revealing who James' top three destinations are: Cleveland, Miami, and Philadelphia.

James wants to go where he'll be most likely to win another title. None of those teams are sure things, but they would give him the opportunity again, especially since the play in the East. The conference is sure to get stronger this coming season, and that was bound to happen even if LeBron stayed out West.
Even so, it's easier for teams to win in the East than it is to win in the West. LeBron is making the smart decision here, regardless of what team he joins. No matter what, that team will be a threat to what the Celtics want to do.

Even if James is no longer the NBA's best player, he still plays at an All-Star/All-NBA level when he's on the floor. At this stage of his career, he doesn't care about the recognition, but knows exactly how to put himself in the right situation to thrive.
Even scarier is that it sounds like James is willing to sign for much less than what he's still worth. In other words, he's put an emphasis more on winning than he is on his paycheck. When you're a bilionaire, can you blame him?
Regardless of who he picks between the Sixers, Cavaliers, and Heat, that team is going to be a tough one to beat for Boston. None of them are the perfect choice for James, but they will be good. No matter how you may feel about James' thought process when it comes to his free agency decisions, he has been proven right every time.
The Celtics have never been afraid of a challenge, whether it's on the court or from the CBA, so even if James is among their obstacles again, they'll be ready for him. That doesn't change the fact that any of these teams adding James will be tough to beat. It's insane that no matter how old someone like LeBron James is, he's still LeBron James.
