In the Boston Celtics’ tough 119-115 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night, Derrick White made team history. He nailed two threes in the contest, breaking Isaiah Thomas’ franchise record for most consecutive games with a made triple. And considering how cold he’s been from deep range this season, that’s a relatively ironic record for him to have broken.
This season has been a brutal year for White, especially when it comes to his three-point shot. After being one of the most consistent three-point shooters for the past few seasons, White hasn’t had that same success. Yet he still managed to implant himself in the Celtics’ record books.
He’s still one of the best shooters in the team’s history.
Derrick White broke Isaiah Thomas' three-point streak
As crazy as that statement may sound, White set the Celtics’ record for most three-point makes in a single season last year. He drained 265, edging out Payton Pritchard and Jayson Tatum, who also snapped Thomas’ ex-record.
Now, White broke another one of Thomas’ records, hitting a three in 58 straight games. The streak dates back to earlier last season, during the 2024-25 campaign.
Derrick White made a 3-pointer in his 58th straight game tonight, breaking Isaiah Thomas’ franchise record for most consecutive games with a three.

The last time White failed to make a three in a regular-season game for the Celtics was back on January 12, 2025, when he shot 0-of-5 against the New Orleans Pelicans. Just one game before that, White was just as ice-cold. He shot 0-of-6 against the Sacramento Kings on January 10, 2025.
There was one playoff game this past season in which White wasn’t able to nail a three-pointer. He shot 0-of-3 from deep in Game 5 against the Orlando Magic, though the Celtics were able to win that game.
But this season, he’s always made a three. In every game. At least one. His efficiency is seriously lagging behind past years, as he’s shooting just 32.0% from distance, but he’s been shooting much better as of late.
Over the course of the Celtics’ last seven games prior to their loss to the Timberwolves on Saturday, in which they went 5-2, White shot 40.4% from deep on 8.1 three-point attempts per contest.
Meanwhile, in the first seven games of the Celtics’ season this year (when Boston went 3-4, White only managed to shoot 25.0% from long range on 9.7 three-point attempts per game.
But even with all of the early-season struggles White endured, he still always managed to make at least a single three-pointer in every game.
That led him to where he is now: In the Celtics’ history books once again.
