According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Marcus and Markieff Morris have signed agent Daniel Hazan and are continuing to search for playing opportunities.

Marcus Morris did not play in the NBA last season. The 13-year veteran split the 2023-24 campaign between his hometown Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The six-foot-eight forward averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 16.7 minutes across 49 games that year. In the playoffs, he squared off against one of his former teams, the Boston Celtics.

Morris produced 6.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest in 15.3 minutes across nine appearances. He also knocked down 39.1 percent of the 2.6 threes he hoisted.

The 14th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft turns 36 in September.

Markieff Morris's search for his next opportunity

As for Markieff Morris, he began last season on the Dallas Mavericks. The 13th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft went with Luka Doncic in the blockbuster trade that sent the Los Angeles Lakers the next face of their franchise.

For the year, Morris averaged 3.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 11 minutes of floor time spanning 15 appearances.

While the 14-year veteran never suited up for the Celtics like his twin brother, he also faced them in the 2024 NBA playoffs. Whereas Marcus Morris was on a Cleveland team that lost to Boston in the second round of the playoffs, Markieff was, of course, on the opponent the 18-time champions vanquished in five games in the Finals.

It could help his cause that he was playing in the Association last season. However, minimal playing time and only getting into 15 games might not even be enough to give him any edge over his brother.

Furthermore, Marcus Morris is a much better three-point shooter. For his career, he has a 37.7 percent conversion rate from beyond the arc on 4.1 attempts. He made 40.3 percent of the 2.4 triples he launched during the 2023-24 campaign.

His brother is a career 34.1 percent three-point shooter on 2.4 tries. He capitalized on just 25 percent of the 2.4 shots he attempted from behind the arc last season.

While Morris made his lone playoff appearance in 2024 in Dallas's Game 4 win over Boston in the NBA Finals, he did not enter into any of Los Angeles's postseason contests in 2025.

He has played for five NBA franchises in his career. His brother has sampled more of what organizations around the league have to offer. Marcus Morris has suited up for eight teams, including his two years with the Celtics. He played for Boston from 2017 through 2019.
