Josh Minott has been impressive in his first two exhibition games with the Boston Celtics. On a roster filled with players eager to prove themselves with increased responsibility, the 22-year-old wing is quickly capitalizing on his opportunities.
In Boston's exhibition opener, a 121-103 win against the Memphis Grizzlies, Minott came off the bench and stuffed the stat sheet. In 26 minutes, he registered eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block.
Two days later, north of the border, the former Minnesota Timberwolf slid into the starting lineup with multiple members of the first unit in street clothes.
Minott generated 13 points on 6/10 shooting in a 107-105 loss. That includes knocking down a corner three on an evening he went 1/3 from beyond the arc. The six-foot-eight forward also snagged six rebounds, swiped a steal, and registered a rejection in 26 minutes of floor time.
The former Memphis Tigers standout is active off the ball, constantly crashing the offensive glass to produce second-chance opportunities. He runs the floor in transition and meshes with the Celtics' switch to a faster approach. And as he has done his entire career, he's letting shots fly with confidence, not hesitation.
Defensively, his length, versatility, and motor are attributes that feed into him being a disruptive player on and off the ball.
It's a promising start for a player relishing his experience in the Celtics' organization.
Josh Minott is loving his new franchise
After Boston's victory vs. the Grizzlies, Minott fielded questions in the visiting locker room at FedExForum. That included a chance for him to express how the start of his Celtics tenure is playing out from his perspective.

"I love where my feet are," said Minott. "I love the environment. Love the people around me. Great staff, great training staff, group of guys. I couldn't ask for anything better, from top to bottom."
It's exactly what the Florida native was hoping for when he signed with the NBA's original monarchy.
"I just need the opportunity to get the chance to prove who I am and show what I can do," he told Hardwood Houdini at Summer League in Las Vegas this July. "I feel like I have the opportunity to help win. Simple as that."
The infusion of energy and activity he's bringing to both ends of the floor, coupled with his versatility offensively and defensively, is quickly showcasing that his words aren't just empty declarations.
