According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Boston Celtics have signed Miles Norris to a two-way contract. Norris is a 24-year-old forward who has spent this season in the G League with the Memphis Hustle, the affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies. He went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft and spent the 2023-24 season with the College Park Skyhawks.

Norris has appeared in 22 games for the Hustle this season, starting in all of them, and has played 30.6 minutes per game. While with the Hustle, he averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting 46.7% from the field and 38.6% from behind the arc on 8.6 three-point attempts per game.

The move comes just hours after the Celtics waived rookie Anton Watson, which was presumably just a precursor to this signing.

There is some uncertainty about Norris' height. RealGM lists him at 6-foot-7, but Basketball Refernece has him listed at 6-foot-10, which is a very large discrepancy,

Taking a look at some highlights, Norris looks much taller than 6-foot-7, and some of the videos on YouTube note that he touted a 7-foot-3 wingspan coming out of high school as well. He definitely looks taller than 6-foot-7 in highlight packages.

Norris' three-point shot is very clean, and he looks extremely comfortable rising up and shooting as soon as he catches the ball. But if he needs to put the ball on the floor and drive, he can do that as well.

Based on the stats he was putting up in the G League with the Hustle, it's a bit surprising that he wasn't already on a two-way contract with another team.

He attended Santa Barbara for three years prior to joining the Skyhawks for the 2023-24 season. However, he began his collegiate career with one year at Oregon before DNPing his sophomore year and transferring to Santa Barbara for his final three seasons of eligibility.

That means Norris was teammates with Celtics guard Payton Pritchard for one year in college. It was Pritchard's junior year, though Norris only played 10.5 minutes per game that season, so he wasn't a huge part of the rotation.

Now, Norris will have a chance to work his way up the ranks in the Celtics organization, joining a Maine team looking to push forward heading into the playoffs. Clearly, his length, shooting, and size was enough to intrigue the Celtics.
