When the Boston Celtics signed Lonnie Walker at the end of free agency, it was viewed as a massive steal. Then, it was revealed that the deal was only an Exhibit 10 contract. Rather than getting signed to the 15th roster spot, Walker was forced to battle for a chance during the preseason and training camp, and ultimately, he didn’t make the squad.

Boston waived Walker by the deadline to cut Exhibit 10 players, meaning he will likely spend some time up in Maine in the G League unless he gets a contract with another team. Luckily for Walker, there are still some teams around the league that have open roster spots. And some of them could end up coming back to bite the Celtics.

Here are three potential landing spots where Walker could go and get revenge on the Celtics.

1. New York Knicks

Heading into the season, the New York Knicks are in a weird spot. They only have 12 players on their roster as they attempt to mitigate a very expensive roster and avoid paying too much in taxes.

With how many players the Knicks traded for Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns, adding a guy like Walker could give them a much-needed body off the pine.

Walker’s microwave scoring could help the Knicks on nights when Jalen Brunson and Towns don’t have their rhythm.

2. Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are going into the season with an open roster spot, and Walker could be an option for them. That said, they already have a decent amount of depth.

Philly added guys like Eric Gordon, Caleb Martin, and Reggie Jackson, and they have Kelly Oubre Jr. coming back. They have plenty of potential scorers.

However, if they wanted to bring another NBA vet on board, Walker could be an option they look at.

3. Miami Heat

Of all the potential landing spots for Walker, this could be the most intriguing, as the Miami Heat have a history of getting the most out of their players.

Even if the Heat are at peak health next season, it still feels like they could use a bit more talent on the wing, and Walker could provide them with that.

Josh Richardson and Alec Burks give them some nice depth at that spot, but Walker’s potential scoring punch may be attractive to Miami. And if he lands there, he could put up some big numbers in a revenge game against the Celtics.
