Top 3 reasons fans should be excited about Jaylen Brown in new Starting 5
By Jack Simone
The Boston Celtics’ title run was captured by a million cameras last season. A bunch of different platforms decided to document the season, but perhaps the most intriguing was Netflix’s Starting 5. The series gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at Jayson Tatum’s life, and the Celtics just so happened to win the title, too.
Cameras followed Tatum on and off the floor, showing his life as a player and a father. As the series gets set for a Season 2, the Celtics will still have representation. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Jaylen Brown has been cast in the second season alongside Kevin Durant, James Harden, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Tyrese Haliburton.
Here are the Top 3 reasons fans should be excited about it.
3. 741 Performance
This season, Brown launched his very own shoe brand called 741 Performance. He’s wearing them every game, as he has decided to carve out his own path in the space.
A behind-the-scenes look at Brown’s life will undoubtedly give fans some insight into the inner workings of the company and the shoe itself.
It’s not often that a player decides to forge his own path and create a shoe on his own, so seeing that journey and everyday process up close will be very interesting.
2. Unique lifestyle
Unlike Tatum, who spends most of his time with his son, Deuce, and the rest of his family, Brown doesn’t have that. He doesn’t have kids, and he likes to keep his personal life very private. That can’t be the case in this documentary.
Starting 5 seemingly decided to pick five players who are the antithesis of last season’s choices. They went from family men to the opposite (at least for now).
Seeing the ins and outs of Brown’s life will be very intriguing. Not only has it been kept relatively under wraps for a long time, but it’s also going to be very different from Tatum’s.
1. A second Celtics title?
Every time a Celtics player has been cast on Starting 5, the team has won the title that season. Coincidence? Well, yes, considering there’s only been one season, but Boston has a real chance to win it all again this year.
Instead of following Tatum around, the cameras will be on Brown, but the Celtics’ goals are still the same—win the NBA Championship.
If they manage to go back-to-back, it will be yet another year that the documentary ends with a parade in Boston.
