This year’s NBA All-Star Game looked a lot different from the games of years past. For the past few years, the games have been extremely boring, as nobody on the court seemed to care about winning or losing. This season, they split the event into a four-team mini-tournament, with three teams of All-Stars and one Rising Stars squad.
It was a fairly entertaining game, as Shaquille O’Neal’s team got the victory, highlighted by impressive performances from Stephen Curry and Jayson Tatum in the final game, where they dominated the team made up primarily of international superstars. All in all, it was a fun evening.
But there was one awkward instance in the middle of the game, and Jaylen Brown (perhaps unintentionally) pointed it out.
Inside the NBA tribute was at a very awkward time, and Jaylen Brown's comment was hilarious
Shaq’s team was dominating the final game. In a contest that was a race to 40 points, they began the game up 11-1. At that point, a timeout was called, and there was a pause in the action after a commercial break.
The entire cast of Inside the NBA was invited onto the court by Kevin Hart, who was the emcee of the evening, and he handed out gifts to O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson.
TNT lost the broadcast rights to the NBA, which means that this will be the last season that Inside the NBA is a staple of the league—which it has been for decades at this point.
But now, they will be departing from their longstanding job of broadcasting the All-Star Game (amongst many other duties), and Hart presented them with gifts including signed jerseys, rings, and (hilariously) fishing equipment,
However, as the guys were putting on their ‘Gone Fishing’ gear, the camera panned to Brown, whose message was caught on audio and video: “Get em out of here.”

Brown was smiling when he made the statement, so it seems likely that he was just cracking a joke about the guys retiring, but he unintentionally made a point that many people at home could have been feeling—get back to the game.
Keith Smith of Spotract put it perfectly on Twitter: The moment was awkwardly placed and took away from the momentum of the game going on.
I am all for giving the Inside crew their love, but this has killed all the flow of the game.

They could have easily presented the guys with presents in the gap between the semifinal games and the final, but they chose to do it in the middle of the action.
It was an odd decision, and while Brown was likely just referencing the guys leaving the broadcast booth, it worked on multiple levels.
