The Boston Celtics only have two games left this season—two home games against the Charlotte Hornets. They are locked into the second seed in the Eastern Conference, meaning they will play the winner of the seven-eight game of the Play-In Tournament, and all they can do now is prioritize their health heading into the postseason.
A similar, yet much less fun, story can be told for the Hornets. These last two games don’t matter for Charlotte either, because they have already been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Where the Celtics can solely focus on playoff health, the Hornets only have player development to focus on.
Here is the Celtics injury report for their game against the Hornets on Friday, April 11.
Celtics injury report vs. Hornets on Friday, April 11
- Jaylen Brown OUT (right knee posterior impingement)
Hornets injury report vs. Celtics on Friday, April 11
- Moussa Diabate QUESTIONABLE (illness)
- LaMelo Ball OUT (ankle)
- Josh Green OUT (shoulder)
- Tre Mann OUT (disc)
- Brandon Miller OUT (wrist)
- Grant Williams OUT (ACL)
- Mark Williams OUT (foot)
Jaylen Brown has officially been ruled out for the first of the Celtics’ two games against the Hornets. However, this absence has big-time implications.
Brown not being available to play on Friday means that he will finish the regular season short of the 65-game minimum to qualify for NBA Awards., taking him out of consideration for an All-NBA spot.
For weeks, Brown has been dealing with lingering knee issues (a bone bruise on his right knee), yet he’s largely been playing through the injury. Some fans had begun to speculate whether or not Brown was trying to push through so he could play in 65 games, despite him denying that claim.
Brown is the only player listed on the Celtics’ injury report for tomorrow’s game.
The only player who is listed as questionable for the Hornets is Moussa Diabate, who is dealing with an illness. Everyone else on their injury report is out, including the likes of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and former Celtic Grant Williams.
