Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown hosted a lengthy Twitch stream over the weekend to recap his summer. He discussed plenty of interesting things like the outlook heading into the upcoming season, what the support of fans in Boston has meant to him in the offseason, and how he dealt with his meniscus tear towards the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
None of those things, however, went as viral as when Brown tried to call a few of his Celtics teammates to get them to chat on the air.
Brown tried facetiming Payton Pritchard, Derrick White, Neemias Queta, Jordan Walsh, and Jayson Tatum, none of whom answered.

Pritchard, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year, wound up calling Brown back later in the stream. Once JB got him on the phone, it made much more sense why none of the other Celtics picked up -- Brown recently changed his phone number.
âHow am I supposed to answer when it pops up with a random number?â Pritchard joked with Brown.
Itâs a fair point, to be honest. I couldnât tell you the last time I answered a call from an unknown number. Spam callers never rest, let me tell you.
Other NBAers had some fun at Jaylen Brown's expense
Again, the clip of Brown going 0-5 spread like wildfire online. Other players like Jeff Teague and Klay Thompson tried their luck in cold calling teammates.
Ironically, both had better success than JB.
Teague actually got Tatum to answer during a recording of his Club 520 podcast, which made for a hilarious clip. He and his crew lost their minds when the Celtics star surprisingly picked up the call.
Thompson called his former Golden State Warriors teammate and âSplash Brother,â Stephen Curry, who answered immediately. It was an unsurprising result, considering the years of success the two had playing together.
Itâs definitely easier to have success when the person youâre calling actually has your number, though. Brown set himself up for failure on the livestream, which may have ultimately been a positive thing.
It got the stream some added publicity and probably gave the team something to joke about heading into training camp, which will start next week.
Brown and his teammates are in for a different climb than theyâve had in past years, after the teamâs significant roster changes this summer. Theyâll have to hope that they connect on the court better than they did on stream, thatâs for sure.
