The Golden State Warriors' mortality in the Steph Curry era is fast approaching. Losing the LeBron James sweepstakes was just about the worst news they could hear. At this point, while they will likely try to build the best team possible, they have to think about the future. If that's where they turn their focus, it could open the door to another Al Horford reunion with the Boston Celtics.
Horford's decision to leave the Celtics has not looked like the best one, and The San Francisco Chronicle's Tim Kawakami revealed that Golden State's ownership may turn towards life after the Steph Curry window closes.
"What (Joe) Lacob wants to do, and this might get Warriors' fans mad, but he wants to build the next team after Steph Curry," Kawakami said on "The TK Show."
Kawakami later clarified that Lacob still wants to build around Curry now while also thinking about the next great Warriors team once Curry's time is up.

We must hearken back to the fact that missing out on James is a pretty devastating blow, so if things look bleaker than ever for the Warriors (there's a pretty good chance they will), maybe Boston could get their hands on Horford again.
Father Time is definitely getting to Horford, as he's not even the player he was when Boston won Banner 18 two years ago, but he's still serviceable when he's on the floor. He's not an every night player, but he hasn't been that since 2022.
Sentimentally, it make sense, but Brad Stevens has shown that sentiment does not affect his decisons. It might this time because he wanted Horford back but couldn't free up the money to keep him last summer.
But do the Celtics need Horford back?
At this time last year, it certainly seemed so. Their frontcourt rotation contained bigs that were mediocre (Chris Boucher), young but unproven (Neemias Queta and Luka Garza), and aged out (Xavier Tillman). This time, it's different,
Boston should be more confident in their rotation of Queta, Garza, and Mitchell Robinson. They also got some solid returns from Chris Cenac Jr. in Summer League. Horford would be a nice depth piece, but the Celtics have pretty good reasons to trust who they have now.
Another reason to bring him back is so that he could have maybe a better chance at another championship while riding into the sunset in Boston, but the Celtics aren't considered among the league's best. That could change this season in due time if everything they bet on pans out, but Horford isn't the necessity he once was as a Celtic.
