Willie Cauley-Stein is a former Kentucky Superstar on the defensive end and a serviceable role player in the NBA. This inexpensive center can come in and just play defense which is all the Celtics would need from their backup 5.

The Celtics will have no problem putting the ball in the basket and with that, a player like Cauley-Stein can come in and just put all of his efforts into making stops on defense; coming in and focusing on what was the one thing that made him a star in college.

While we cannot expect him to live up to the potential he had coming out of Kentucky, he can come in and be that big body that can help slow down Giannis. While he has not been in the NBA since the 2022 NBA Season, if given the opportunity Willie Cauley-Stein will give maximum effort to shine in this role and keep his career going in the NBA. The cost it would take to bring him in would be very minimal and it can be a fantastic addition to the Celtics roster.
