Jaylen Brown’s time with the Boston Celtics is over

After signing a five-year supermax contract with the Celtics for $303.7 million, it may come as a surprise that Jaylen Brown may be on the move if the Cs are not crowned NBA Champions. For the past few seasons, the fans and media have wondered if Brown and Jayson Tatum can win it all together. Boston has had great success with the two in the regular season, but in the biggest moments, they have not managed to get the job done.

With Jayson Tatum being next in line to receive a Supermax, the Celtics would need to justify both of these players eating up more than half their payroll by themselves. Boston may look at Brown as being the player that can get them valuable assets; as the team would build around Taytum going forward if they get sold on the idea that they cannot simply win together.

It is without a shadow of a doubt that if this season is a failure the Celtics will do anything to try and keep Tatum happy – which could include moving Brown to get more complementary pieces. Brown is a two-time All-Star who has been with the Celtics since they drafted him No. 3 overall in 2016.

With him entering his eighth season this could be his final one as a Celtic if Banner 18 isn’t a TD Garden fixture in the fall of 2024, though.
