The Mavericks failed to secure a playoff berth or even a play-in opportunity. Across 42 games, McGee averaged a mere 8.5 minutes of playtime.
At the age of 35, the three-time champion continues to exhibit the remarkable athleticism and shot-blocking prowess that align with Boston’s admiration for Robert Williams III. Particularly if the Time Lord succumbs to considerable injury time, a persistent issue since entering the league, McGee is a seamless fit as the backup center. His presence can prevent drastic deviations from the Celtics’ defensive strategies.
During his solitary season with the Phoenix Suns before joining Dallas, McGee participated in 74 games, maintaining averages of 9.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks within 15.8 minutes per game. In playoff scenarios, he sustained performance levels of 6.8 points, four rebounds, and nearly half a block, despite only playing 11.1 minutes per game.
