Marcus Morris, LA Clippers

At the moment, Marcus Morris is still a member of the LA Clippers. However, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if that changed at some point before the start of the season. Perhaps he becomes a part of the James Harden to LA deal that could come to fruition before the start of training camps. Or maybe he isn’t. Either way, as a player on an expiring contract, there’s a strong chance that he could emerge as a natural trade deadline candidate.

If he is on the open market, the Boston Celtics could be interested in him. Already familiar with Morris, playing for the team for two seasons, he could theoretically fill the role as a backup power forward for the Celtics. Morris would add insurance behind Kristaps Porzingis alongside the unknown that is Oshae Brissett. At this point, Brissett is not a reason for the Clippers not to pursue added depth in the frontcourt.

Could Brissett emerge as a consistent option behind KP, absolutely. However, in the event that roll-of-the-dice signing doesn’t come to full fruition, I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility for the Celtics to target a familiar player such as Morris at the trade deadline.
